It Started with Disappointment
In 2019, after returning from a trip to Taiwan where we first experienced properly brewed oolong, we found ourselves unable to replicate that moment back home in Hamburg. Every tea we purchased felt flat, lifeless, and nothing like what we remembered.
We started asking questions. Why did grocery store tea taste like cardboard? Why were the leaves crushed into dust? Why couldn't we find harvest dates or garden names on any packaging?
The answers led us down a path of discovery that would eventually become TeeZeit. We learned that the tea industry had optimised for convenience and shelf stability at the expense of everything that makes tea worth drinking.
